What’s a foam-encased mattress?
Choosing a mattress can feel completely overwhelming. There are so many brands, models and types of beds on the market that it’s hard to know where to start, and there’s lots of industry jargon too. Many buyers might not know what certain terms mean, or what the benefits of certain features are. One of the terms that many people haven’t heard or don’t understand is “foam-encased” or “foam-encapsulated”.
Foam-encased mattresses have extra side support in the form of a foam “box” around the sides of the mattress. This box encases or encapsulates the inner mattress filling inside a supportive foam layer that reinforces the whole mattress. It increases the overall sleeping surface of the mattress by strengthening the sides of the mattress for better support and helps maintain mattress shape.
At Restonic SA, we use the term “Edge Tech Hybrid Technology” to describe this feature in our mattresses that offer it.
Mattresses that are constructed using a combination of foam and spring are also referred to as hybrid mattresses. Hybrid mattresses combines support and comfort to give you the best of both worlds.
People choose foam-encased mattresses for the following reasons:
- Prevents sagging
- Offers edge-to-edge support
- Maximum sleeping surface (ideal if you are sharing a bed with a partner and children)
- Durable and long-lasting
- Available in various comfort options (firmness or softness)
- Available with a range of toppings and mattress options (pocket springs, classic springs, etc.)
Certain Restonic SA foam-encased models also include our patented Marvelous Middle® technology.
